Magic's sire was Seattles Onyx, who was sired by the *Bask++ son Le Dez++, and out of the Khemosabi++++/ grand-daughter Mintlanes-Shalal. Onyx sired 35 foals, with his last foal crop born in 1998 as he had been gelded after the 1997 breeding season. Magic was one of the last of his foals born. Onyx was a multiple Champion in both Halter and Western Pleasure, and has passed on both his looks and his athletic ability to many of his foals. One of his sons, Flash USA, was unfortunately lost at a very young age. However, during the only year that he was shown, he had Championships in both Halter and Most Classic! Onyx also sired several sabinos!

Magic's paternal grand-sire is Le Dez++. Le Dez++ was sired by *Bask++ and out of Sey Cherie++. He sired over 100 foals, many of which went on to become National winners in Halter and performance! Le Dez++ himself was US National Top Ten in Driving, a US National Top Ten in Halter, and a full brother to The Chief Justice++. The Chief Justice++ was a US and Canadian National Top Ten Halter Stallion, Canadian National Top Ten English Pleasure and US National Top Ten Informal Combination. He was the leading sire of performance winners at the 1994 US Nationals. One of the greatest sires of performance champions ever, The Chief Justice++ had over 30 National winners and over 40 Regional winners in 1994 alone. Le Dez++ was out of Sey Cherie++, a *Serafix granddaughter who was National Futurity Champion and Top Ten Mare. She had 10 foals, including 3 by *Bask++ and 4 by Khemosabi++++/. One of those, R Classic Touch+++/, sired the maximum sabino stallion, R Khasper!
Sey Cherie’s sire Aseyr, a halter champion bred by John Rogers, died young but was a full brother to halter and performance champion Tornado Talisman++, to U.S. Top Ten Western Pleasure and National Champion sire Witezfix++, and to U.S. Reserve National Champion Mare and English Pleasure El Malika++, all by *Serafix, sire of 41 National winners, out of the *Witez II daughter Witeza.
Sey Cherie’s dam Noelle comes from the superb Cedardell breeding program, the first American program to produce three U.S. National Champion Mares, and the first American breeder to have both the U.S. National Champion Stallion and Mare in the same year. Noelle also produced champion producer Habala, performance champion Rahjo-T and halter and performance champion Mocha-T+++, the latter two full blood siblings to Sey Cherie++. Noelle’s sire Hassan-Pasha sired just 41 foals, but they included U.S. National Champion Western Pleasure and Top Ten Mare Hassa++ and U.S. Top Ten Stallion Haj-Amin, sire of U.S. National Champion Stallion Hajababa++. Noelle’s dam Marifa is also the dam of U.S. National Champion Mare and National winner producer Imarfa++.
Another name in her paternal pedigree that you might recognize is Abu Farwa. There are 4 lines to him through her sire's dam.
Magic's dam was Ebony Miss Tawny, a daughter of Darq Omen who was also the sire of Swiss Darq Flame, the sire of our mare Swiss Darq Adagio, making Magic and Swiss cousins. Darq+++ was the second Horse to receive the Supreme Legion of Merit (+++), and the only Black Stallion (at the time) to receive this honor. He has Championships in Halter, Western Pleasure, Park,Costume and English Pleasure and was US National Top Ten in Costume and Canadian National Top Ten in Halter! Darq+++ is also a son of Raffon++, one of our favorite stallions.
Gayronek was bred to have his trot; he was double Ronek, a horse well known for passing on his brilliant natural trot. Gayronek’s sire was the high-trotting Risab (by Ronek). Gayronek’s dam was Sahagay, by Gayr (by Ronek), a beautiful brown stallion who also had the trot. Gayronek’s 3rd dam was a Jadaan daughter. In his lifetime Jadaan enjoyed national and even international fame as the mount of movie star Rudolph Valentino (who died in 1926 at the age of 31). Jadaan became a sort of icon for the public and won many people to the Arabian breed.
